Cancer Awareness & Support Day: Wednesday 16th September 2015

Staff from the Staffordshire Cancer Advocacy and Support Project attended the Macmillan Cancer Support Community Event in partnership with University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust and Beth Johnson Foundation.  The event was a free drop-in community event providing support and information for anyone with a concern or a question relating to cancer.

The general public had an opportunity to try out local services, talk to Cancer Nurse Specialists and other health professionals, ask questions and find out more about support services and groups in North Staffordshire, including Staffordshire Cancer Advocacy and Support.

The event was not as well supported as we would have hoped, however, those that did attend reported feeling better informed and aware of the support and provision of services available in North Staffordshire.

“Staffordshire and Wolverhampton Cancer Advocacy and Support is a service for anyone over the age of 50 who has been affected by cancer.  We can listen to the issues that you are facing, find the information to allow you to have a choice that give you control over your life, help you to access the services that are right for you and speak alongside you to help you to stand up for what you feel are your best interests.  We can also help you to talk to your healthcare professionals about your needs and the choices available to you.

If you would like to find out more information, please telephone Staffordshire and Wolverhampton Cancer Advocacy and Support team on 01782 844036”
